2. Data We Collect

2.1 Device Information

We generate and store a unique device identifier (UUID) on your device. This identifier:

  • Is stored securely in your device's Keychain/Keystore
  • Helps us track your conversation minutes balance
  • Is not linked to any personal information
  • Cannot be used to identify you personally

2.2 Conversation Data

When you have conversations with our AI:

  • Conversations are stored locally on your device
  • Audio is processed in real-time and not permanently stored on our servers
  • We do not store transcripts of your conversations on our servers

2.3 Usage Data

We collect minimal usage data including:

  • Minutes used for conversations
  • App preferences (language settings, preferred voice)
  • Streak and progress information (stored locally)

2.4 Purchase Information

We use RevenueCat to process in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect:

  • Transaction data from the App Store or Google Play
  • Device identifier for purchase restoration

We do not have access to your payment details such as credit card numbers. All payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store).

3. App Permissions

TalkBits requires the following permissions to function:

3.1 Microphone Access

Required. We need microphone access to capture your voice during conversations. Audio is:

  • Sent to OpenAI's servers for real-time processing
  • Not stored permanently by TalkBits
  • Only recorded when you're actively in a conversation

3.2 Internet Access

Required. Needed to communicate with our servers and OpenAI for AI-powered conversations.

3.3 Notifications (Optional)

If enabled, we may send you daily reminders to practice. You can disable these at any time in your device settings.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 OpenAI

We use OpenAI's Realtime API to power our AI conversations. Your voice data is processed by OpenAI according to their Privacy Policy.

4.2 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions. See their Privacy Policy for details.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Your device identifier is stored securely using platform-native secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android)
  • Local data is stored on your device only
  • Server communication uses HTTPS encryption
  • We implement industry-standard security practices

6. Data Retention

We retain your device identifier and minutes balance for as long as you use the app. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request information about what data we store
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of notifications
  • Uninstall the app at any time

8. Children's Privacy

TalkBits is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
